I just re-watched all of “The Maxx” on mtv.com

Who could forget classic moments like these?

Watch it here if you have a high tolerance for repetitive streaming ad breaks. If you’ve never had the pleasure of watching or reading the Maxx, I can assure you nothing here makes any more sense in context.

Iago, the giant killer banana slug was a major villain in later issues of Sam Kieth’s The Maxx. It’s too bad the animated adaptation never got this far. As I was just discussing with a friend of mine, I could easily see him voiced by Gilbert Gottfried, like another, more famous Iago.
This Iago spouted supportive, self-help phrases (including “somebody needs a hug!”) even as he tracked down and murdered a series of people off a mysterious list, feeding their remains to eyeless, exploding fairies.
